How do I book an appointment?
Message the artist or studio on instagram, or email info@thefoxdenamsterdam.nl with a detailed description of your idea.

When emailing, please include:
  • Design concept and style
  • Placement on the body
  • Approximate size
  • Up to 5 reference images
We’ll review your request and get back to you as soon as possible.
Important notes:
  • We do not copy other tattoos or existing designs. Our artists create a custom piece based on your inspiration.
How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?
You must be 18 or older to get tattooed at our studio. We cannot make exceptions under any circumstances. Be prepared to show a valid photo ID when you come in, as proof of age is required.
How much does a tattoo cost?
Our minimum charge is €200. The final price varies based on the artist you book with, the size and placement of the tattoo, the complexity of the design, and the time needed to complete it.
Can I bring someone with me?
For hygiene regulations set by the GGD and in accordance with our insurance requirements, only clients receiving a tattoo are permitted in the working area. This rule is non-negotiable. Allowing companions in working zones increases risk exposure.

One companion may be present during the design and stencil stage if the artist agrees. Once tattooing begins, companions must leave the studio and may return only when the session is complete and the tattoo has been wrapped.
How do I schedule a walk-in appointment?
Walk-in appointments are sometimes available, but not guaranteed every day. To avoid waiting or disappointment, we prefer that you call us at 06 55 35 06 85 in advance to check availability. If we have an open spot, we’ll be happy to get you tattooed the same day.
Are touch-ups included?
Certain tattoos, particularly fine line designs, may heal with lighter spots or minor irregularities. If this occurs, the artist may advise that a touch-up is appropriate. When required, this can typically be scheduled within 6 months of the original appointment.

Touch-ups are not provided in cases of improper aftercare, sun damage, or other factors outside the artist’s control.

This policy applies exclusively to tattoos created by our current resident artists. We do not provide touch-ups for work done by guest artists or other studios.
Deposit policy
To confirm your appointment, we require a deposit. This deposit secures your time with the artist and covers the work involved in consultation, answering questions, preparing designs, and scheduling.

Deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel your appointment for any reason, the deposit will be forfeited. Deposits are also non-transferable to another person or project.

Rescheduling is possible once if requested at least one week in advance. A second rescheduling or any cancellation after rescheduling will result in the loss of your deposit. If you attend your appointment as planned, the deposit is applied to the final price of your tattoo.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payments can be made by cash, debit card (PIN), or credit card. Please note that guest artists accept cash only.
Does it hurt?
Yes — it’s a tattoo, not a massage. The pain is part of the process, but most people find it very manageable. Some even say they enjoy the rush of endorphins that kicks in once the needle starts.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Good preparation makes a big difference. The quality of your skin affects the quality of your tattoo, so start taking care of yourself well before your appointment:
  • Keep your skin moisturized in the weeks leading up to your session
  • Stay hydrated and eat healthy to support your skin condition
On the day of your appointment:
  • Arrive clean and freshly showered
  • Get a good night’s rest
  • Eat a solid breakfast and bring extra snacks or lunch, especially for long sessions (your body uses more energy while being tattooed, and food helps you stay strong and steady)
  • Stay hydrated throughout the day
  • Do not drink alcohol or come under the influence of drugs or painkillers
Practical tips:
  • Wear comfortable clothing and avoid new or white items, as ink may stain
  • For longer sessions, feel free to bring a scarf, towel, or small blanket to keep warm and comfortable
  • Do not shave the tattoo area yourself; we will take care of it with sterile tools on the day of your appointment
How can I book with a guest artist?
We regularly announce upcoming guest artists on our social media channels. Each announcement includes details on their stay and how to contact them directly regarding designs, pricing, and availability. All bookings with guest artists are handled by the artist themselves.
Can I get a tattoo while breastfeeding?
We do not recommend getting tattooed while breastfeeding. The risks include infection, which can affect both you and your baby, and limitations on treatment options (such as antibiotics) if complications arise. For safety reasons, most studios — including ours — advise waiting until after you have finished breastfeeding.
Can I get a tattoo while on my period?
Yes, it’s possible, but keep in mind that pain sensitivity can be higher and cramps or fatigue may affect your comfort. Wear suitable sanitary products and comfortable clothing. If you feel unwell, it may be better to reschedule.
Can I get a tattoo if I’m sick or on medication?
If you have a cold, flu, or infection, or are taking medication that affects your blood or healing (for example antibiotics, blood thinners, or certain skin medications), you should postpone your appointment. Always inform your artist of any medication use.
Can I tan or sunbathe before my tattoo?
We do not recommend tanning, using sunbeds, or getting sunburned before your appointment. Damaged or irritated skin cannot be tattooed safely and will affect the healing and quality of your tattoo.
Can I drink alcohol before getting a tattoo?
No. Alcohol thins the blood, which increases bleeding during tattooing, complicates the process, and may negatively affect healing. You must arrive sober to your appointment.
